Washington & Jefferson College typically accepts three- or four-credit college-level academic courses (with course descriptions similar to W&J offerings) with grades of a C- or above from an accredited institution for transfer credit. No more than 16 courses from other institutions may be applied toward W&J's graduation requirements. Only grades attained at W&J will be used to compute a student's grade point average. A student must complete 16 courses at W&J to obtain a degree.
If you are an incoming transfer student, the registrar's office, in conjunction with the Office of Academic Affairs and department chairs, will provide the final determination of the course credit awarded from the courses you have completed prior to coming to W&J. Any course accepted from another college will be recorded as credit by the Registrar. If you would like to know what courses may be accepted, please contact Karen Gerardi in the Office of Admission.
